DiscoverEU is an initiative of the European Union that gives 18-year-olds the opportunity to discover Europe by train. It aims to empower young European citizens to:
- experience and learn about Europe
- discover opportunities that Europe has to offer them
- connect with other young people from across Europe and share and celebrate European culture
- travel in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way
- grow in independence, confidence and openness to other cultures.
Selected applicants who are resident in Ireland will receive a free train pass. They can also receive free flight tickets and travel by plane to begin their DiscoverEU journey in a European country of their choice. They can start and finish their journey in two different countries!
The next application round is for young people born in 2005. The application period is open from 4 October 2023 at 11:00:00 (IST) to 18 October 2023 at 11:00:00 (IST).Young people can apply on the European Youth Portal.
