Accommodation in Ireland

Tourist/short-term

There are different options when it comes to short-term or holiday accommodation.

Long-term Accommodation

Finding accommodation in Ireland can be very difficult as a result of high demand and high rent – your search will involve perseverance, compromise, and optimism, with some good luck thrown in!

Search online through Property websites such as daft.ie, let.ie or myhome.ie.

Letting agents: A good letting agent will have expert local knowledge of the area they serve.

Facebook group: There are a number of accommodation groups for anyone looking for a house, apartment or room to rent/share. Many of these groups are private and you’ll need to request access.

Shared accommodation is very common in Ireland and is cheaper than renting somewhere on your own. Search sites such as rent.ie or myhome.ie.

Word of mouth is also a worthwhile way of trying to source accommodation.

Renting - things to Know!

  • There is a housing shortage, so finding accommodation to rent is very difficult. It also means high rent, especially in Dublin and other large cities.
  •  Watch out for Accommodation Scams! Be absolutely certain that the landlord and property are genuine, as there are scammers who will try to trick you out of your money and leave you stranded.  More information
  • You have rights as a renter. With the right steps, you can usually get your rental issue resolved. If not, you can contact the appropriate authorities for help. More information
